The RTCU product line currently includes 13 different hardware variants covering a broad range of I/O configurations, environments and applications.
All RTCU products offers full programmability using the RTCU-IDE Development Environment, but can also be used, without programming or development, with the RTCU MICRO
Standard Application.

All Products are delivered according to the conditions in the User License Agreement and Limited Warranty document.

RTCU Units

RTCU CX1 pro/pro-c

The RTCU CX1 pro/pro-c is a compact, waterproof and ruggedized telematic tracking and control platform, based on the powerful X32-architecture also found in the popular MX2i Series. In addition to a long list of standard features, the RTCU CX1 sports a state-of-the-art 66-channels SuperGPS receiver with unprecedented performance. Unique features  includes an advanced 3D-movement sensor and wireless RF transceiver.
 

The RTCU CX1 pro/pro-c product is a worthy member of a growing number of advanced telemetry/telematic products all based on the proven and powerful X32-architecture.

The RTCU CX1 pro/pro-c is specifically based on the popular RTCU MX2i series and is 100% software compatible with all other X32 based devices from Logic IO.

The unique features of the RTCU CX1 pro/pro-c includes a 3D-movement sensor supporting a range of new applications such as detailed driving behavior and even crash detection. The RTCU CX1 pro/pro-c has support for medium range wireless communication using the ISM 868 Mhz frequency band. This feature allows implementation of wireless I/O, RF-tracking and simple remote key fob applications. 
There is on-board Li-Ion battery for uninterrupted operation during power-fail.

The ISM RF antenna is on-board and internal to the device, and the unit is delivered pre-mounted with a 50 cm interface cable with power, I/O and RS232 or CAN bus signals easily accessible. For the most flexible installation the RTCU CX1 pro/pro-c is factory delivered with an external high-performance waterproof magnet GPS antenna and a small waterproof thumb-sized GSM antenna already installed. Everything necessary to install the device is therefore included in the box, so the total cost of the device deployment is effectively reduced to a minimum.

The RTCU CX1 pro/pro-c is housed in a highly ruggedized IP66 waterproof encapsulation, which allows a new spectrum of applications to be realized due to the new installation possibilities.

The RTCU CX1 pro/pro-c offers many other sophisticated features such as: Micro SD-CARD with up to 8 GB capacity and a
512 Kbyte internal flash drive with a FAT32 compatible file-system for easy sharing of files locally and remotely with a PC/Server. 

The RTCU CX1 pro/pro-c is of course fully programmable using the user-friendly Integrated Development Environment (RTCU IDE) running under Windows. In this environment  the complete application is developed, simulated and finally transferred to the unit via a standard USB port or remotely by using GPRS or CSD (Datacall).

The RTCU CX1 pro has RS232 interface with full Garmin FMI support, and the RTCU CX1 pro-c instead has a full CAN 2.0B interface. All other specifications are similar.

RTCU CX1 flex

 

The RTCU CX1 flex is a compact and ruggedized telematic tracking and control platform based on the powerful X32-architecture.
The RTCU CX1 flex offers a unique and outstanding approach allowing seamless upgrade with new hardware options – even after the product has been installed in the field!
With a fully upgraded RTCU CX1 flex the functionality is approaching that of RTCU CX1 pro – merely lacking the RF transceiver and SD-CARD reader!
 
The RTCU CX1 flex is a low-cost product based on the RTCU CX1 pro/pro-c with a unique approach to the market. The standard hardware features of the RTCU CX1 flex are very powerful, but various hardware options can be specified when ordering or later deployed after unit installation. Options are easily activated using a short option key or barcode.
 
The following options are available:
  •  I/O option:  Full I/O with 2 digital inputs, 2 digital outputs and 1 analog input.
  •  RS232/FMI option: RS232 and full Garmin FMI support.
  •  Performance option: Very fast execution (48 Mhz) and X32 Enhanced Memory.

Options can be applied remotely to a unit already installed and in use by the customer.

The RTCU CX1 flex is housed in a highly ruggedized IP66 waterproof encapsulation, which allows a new spectrum of applications to be realized.

RTCU-MX2i pro/pro+


The RTCU MX2i pro/pro+ is the most powerful variants in the versatile MX2i family, and includes a list of advanced features only available on this State-of-the-Art product. The product is especially suited for mobile tracking applications with its on-board ultra high sensivity 66-channels SuperGPS-receiver and advanced power-management features. The unit is fully supported by the RTCU IDE development tool and is fully back-ward compatible with previous generation of RTCU units.

RTCU-MX2i eco+

The RTCU MX2i eco+ is the economical choice based on the full powered MX2i pro.

Compared to the full powered MX2i pro the RTCU MX2i eco+ has a reduced feature set, but still maintains crucial core functionality such as a high-capacity battery, 1-wire support, full I/O capabilities and support for X32 enhanced memory for extremely huge programs.

Fully supported by the RTCU IDE development tools and is of course fully backward compatible.

The RTCU MX2i eco+ feature-list includes:

The RTCU MX2 SOM (System On Module) with the core taken from the popular and powerful RTCU MX2i pro product. The MX2 SOM module can be designed into a customer application in the cases, where a standard product is not suitable. All signals are available on the SOM module for easy integration, and a powerful development board is offered for rapid development and integration…

RTCU-AX9 pro

The RTCU AX9 pro is designed for a broad range of advanced wireless monitoring, control and remote access applications which require a product based on the most versatile and powerful platform available today.

The RTCU AX9 pro shares the same powerful features as the other members of the X32-family with advanced features such as: ISM band RF communication, multiple RS485 ports with full MODBUS slave/master support, transparent support for MODBUS based I/O module extension and support for a M2M chip instead of a traditional SIM-card!

The RTCU AX9 pro has been designed ground up for professional wireless industrial applications with its strong on-board I/O capabilities and multiple communication interfaces such as: 1-Wire, USB, RS232 and dual RS485 channels. In addition to full quad-band GSM for long-range wireless communication the RTCU AX9 pro integrates support for RF ISM for short range wireless communication. The on-board I/O system can be expanded almost indefinitely and completely transparent by adding external MODBUS compatible I/O modules! This unique I/O expansion capability, combined with the possibility to operate as a MODBUS master and slave simultaneously, positions the RTCU AX9 pro as the perfect product for SCADA-like applications.

The RTCU AX9 pro offers many other sophisticated features such as: a 512 Kbyte internal flash drive and a Micro SD-CARD reader with a FAT32 compatible file-system for easy sharing of files locally and remotely. There is optional support for Bluetooth, Ethernet,
Wi-Fi, Camera and a Mobile Data Terminal for user interaction.

The RTCU AX9 pro is based on the well proven RTCU X32-architecture sharing powerful features such as: IVR (Interactive Voice Response) implementation using Voice/DTMF, SMS/PDU messages, optimized host implemented TCP/IP stack with full support for the Logic IO Gateway concept. Using the Logic IO VSMS (Virtual SMS) technology SMS, GPRS and CSD (Datacall) merge together, allowing any RTCU application, that uses the VSMS-messages paradigm, to transparently send / receive messages using either SMS, GPRS or CSD (Datacall) without any changes to the software already developed.

The unit has full SMTP support for sending e-mails with attachments and file transfer with FTP for easy exchange of information with external sources.

RTCU-AX9 eco


The RTCU AX9 eco is a low-cost version based on the full-featured and powerful RTCU AX9 pro that still hosts a long list of advances features.
Compared to the RTCU AX9 pro the RTCU AX9 eco differs on the following features:

  •  No 868 Mhz ISM RF band transceiver.
  •  No SD-CARD reader.
  •  No secondary RS232 port.
  •  No standard RS485 port.
  •  No support for accessories such as Bluetooth, VGA Camera, Ethernet/WiFi.
  •  No analog outputs and only 2 analog inputs.
  •  No expansion slot.
  •  Low-capacity battery.
  •  No Enhanced X32 memory support. 

The RTCU AX9 eco has been designed ground up for professional wireless industrial applications with its strong on-board I/O capabilities and multiple communication interfaces such as: 1-Wire, USB, RS232 and optional RS485. For world-wide operation the RTCU AX9 eco offers full quad-band GSM support with internal or external antenna.

The RTCU AX9 eco offers many other sophisticated features such as: a 512 Kbyte internal flash drive with a FAT32 compatible file-system for easy sharing of files locally and remotely. There is optional support for a Mobile Data Terminal for advanced user interaction.

The RTCU AX9 eco is based on the well proven RTCU X32-architecture sharing powerful features such as: IVR (Interactive Voice Response) implementation using Voice/DTMF, SMS/PDU messages, optimized host implemented TCP/IP stack with full support for the Logic IO Gateway concept. RTCU-DX4 pro

The RTCU DX4 pro has been designed ground up for professional wireless industrial applications with its strong on-board I/O capabilities and multiple communication interfaces such as: CAN bus, 1-Wire, USB, RS232 and dual RS485 channels. The on-board I/O system can be expanded almost indefinitely and completely transparent by adding external MODBUS compatible I/O modules! The RTCU Gateway Professional is a middleware-solution that allows easy
communication and access to remote units connected using TCP/IP communication technology. The product works in any Network architecture, without any need for expensive fixed IP-address or tunnelling solutions provided by the GSM operators.
The RTCU Gateway Professional constitutes a back-bone in the communication between RTCU units and back-end/client applications. The product insures reliable and economical communication in any environment and application.
The RTCU Gateway Professional also supports the advanced RTCU Upgrade & Deployment Server available as a Free add-on.

RTCU Upgrade & Deployment Server.

The RTCU Upgrade & Deployment Server (UDS) offers sophisticated features for Upgrade & Deployment of a, typically a larger, number of RTCU units in operation. The UDS can be configured by the user to insure that the specified units are running the correct firmware and application. The UDS will automatically upgrade the units as requested and this task will even take place during FULL unit operation. Any interruption in an upgrade attempt will be automatically handled and resumed to avoid any waste of expensive bandwidth.

The following features are available:

  •  Uses the RTCU Gateway Professional to establish a connection to remote units.
  •  Runs as a Windows Service. This means that the UDS service will start without
     Windows logon and can also be remotely managed as a service.
  •  Remote access for monitoring/configuration via the included Windows GUI tool.
  •  Upgrades firmware and application automatically according to user-configuration.
  •  Firmware and application can be upgraded during full operation of the unit.
     This unique feature minimizes downtime and the impact on the user.
  •  Failed upgrade attempts will automatically be resumed at the point of interruption.
     This unique feature will reduce the cost and time of upgrading.
  •  Automatically or application driven decision when to switch over to the new
     application/firmware. All that is required to switch over to the new

RTCU MICRO STANDARD APPLICATION

The RTCU MICRO Standard application offers
extremely easy setup/use of the unit for simple applications not requiring the full flexibility of the RTCU IDE programming environment. The pre-programmed functionality allows generating SMS-messages and/or calling up with user recorded voice message on the leading and/or falling edge of an input. By sending an user defined SMS-message or calling the unit using voice/DTMF the outputs can be controlled. Temperature monitoring and GPS functionality for geofencing are also included in the standard application. The configuration is performed either by sending SMS-messages to the unit or by using the RTCU Micro Configuration Tool available free of charge.

Navigation and Messaging Platform (NMP)


The Logic IO Navigation and Messaging Platform (NMP) is a powerful and extremely open platform for implementation of state-of the-art advanced fleet management applications integrating navigation, messaging, driver identification and job dispatch capabilities.
The NMP platform works on almost any Microsoft Windows CE 6.0
based device and is based on the market leading Sygic navigation engine tightly integrated into the powerful RTCU concept.
The NMP is fully backward compatible with already developed Garmin FMI based applications and includes full Garmin FMI functionality. Likewise, the
full Mobile Data Terminal (MDT) API is fully supported opening up for a new level of customized user interaction.

The key features of the Navigation and Messaging Platform:

Garmin Fleet Management / Navigation Interface




The Garmin Fleet Management / Navigation API supports implementation of advanced fleet management applications integrating Navigation, Two-way messaging, Driver identification and Job dispatch capabilities. The Job dispatch functionality includes advanced features such as support for routes with multiple stops, route optimization and periodic Estimated Time of Arrival (ETA) notifications.

The illustration below shows the system architecture with the various components constituting a complete Fleet Management Solution:

The CX1 and MX2i series can be connected to certain navigation devices from Garmin allowing the development of highly advanced Fleet Management, Messaging and Navigation applications.
The Garmin Navigation devices currently supported includes:

The MX2i pro/pro+ and CX1 pro natively supports the Garmin Fleet Management interface, whether the CX1 flex and MX2i basic/eco+ does not. The MX2i basic/eco+ and CX1 flex can be upgraded to full Garmin Fleet Management functionality. For special applications the RTCU AX9 pro can also work with the Garmin Fleet Management interface.

By using an off the-shelf embedded wireless module, the customer gets the benefit of using field proven RF hardware and protocol software to ensure the best performance possible. RF functionality of the RTCU units are designed to effortlessly interface with virtually any control, command, or monitoring applications for building automation systems, security systems, and industrial applications. The easy configurable network allows adapting to changing floor plans and requirements in a matter of minutes. New sensors and devices can be added to the network, as fast as they can be mounted.

    The highly sophisticated RF protocol implemented offers bi-directional communication with increased operational reliability and improves the basis for an extensive range of devices. Additionally the bidirectional communication ensures, that the tasks are received and accomplished correctly.

    Currently four main categories of add-on modules are supported:

    Remote control keyfobs: With remote control keyfobs the user defined functionality on the RTCU unit can be controlled.

    External relay modules: The relay modules provide relay outputs, which can be controlled remotely and are capable of switching external AC or DC powered loads.

    AC switching modules: The modules can be plugged directly into a wall receptacle and are capable of switching devices.

    Remote sensors: A variety of sensors can be connected to the RTCU unit remotely, which make them usable in wide variety of applications cost and time effectively.

    Currently the RF add-on modules are supported by the RTCU CX1 pro, RTCU CX1 pro-c and the RTCU AX9 pro/pro-x.

    WLAN / Ethernet add-on module for the RTCU MX2i pro / DX4 pro / AX9 pro

    The WLAN-100 / ETH-100 add-on module allows connection to the RTCU Gateway Professional or to any TCP/IP socket enabled device through either a standard LAN or through an increasing number of Wi-Fi hot-spots globally available. Using (W)LAN in many cases means that large amount of data can be transferred for FREE or at a very low cost. The WLAN-100 / ETH-100 supplement GPRS and both communication methods can be used selectable under full control of the VPL application.

    The WLAN-100 supports connection to a standard Wi-Fi access point and is supplied with the necessary interface cable for the MX2i pro/DX4 pro or AX9 pro and a SMA antenna.

    The ETH-100 supports connection to a standard Ethernet 10/100 Mbps cable infrastructure and is supplied with the necessary interface cable for the MX2i pro / DX4 pro or AX9 pro and a RJ45 patch cable.

    Advanced configuration is supported using an easy to use web-based interface, where various parameters such as DHCP / IP-address, net-mask and security parameters are configured. Supports security using WEP, WPA and WPA2.

    VGA Camera Module for the RTCU MX2i pro / DX4 pro / AX9 pro



    The VGA Camera Module for the RTCU MX2i pro, RTCU DX4 pro and RTCU AX9 pro is extending the functionality of this powerful platform with the capability to take colour pictures in standard JPEG format. The pictures taken can be transmitted over GPRS to a server and/or saved to an SD-CARD file.
    The Camera Module is supporting implementation of applications such as:

    •  Remote monitoring of equipment, devices, work areas and locations
    •  Vehicle, including driver/passenger, monitoring
    •  Security applications
    •  Any event-trigger applications

    Enfora SA-G+ GSM/GPRS Modem

    Mounting bracket for the RTCU MX2i Series

    The Mounting bracket is used in the cases were screw-hole mounting is required for the RTCU MX2i Series.
    Installation is very easy as the bracket is designed to simply fit on the MX2i Series without need for any tools. The rubber gasket between the bracket and the MX2i Series insures that when the bracket is fastened with the two screw-holes onto the surface it will remain in place.

    MX2i Series front end-cap with hidden SIM card reader

    In the MX2i Series the SIM card is by standard easily accessible from the outside, which is a huge advantage in most applications.

    For special requirements an alternative front end-cap with the SIM card reader hidden behind the front end-cap can be delivered. Using this front-end cap it is therefore necessary to unscrew the front end-cap to gain access to the SIM card.

    Modular 1-Wire

    Modular 1-Wire concept

    The modular 1-Wire concept is offering high flexibility and customization for a wide range of applications utilizing multiple 1-Wire devices. The 1-Wire concept is based on building blocks such as combiners, splitters and unit interface cables connected together with standard and widely available RJ45 UTP cable technology.

    Unit interface cables are available which connect the RTCU unit to a splitter or combiner, that again connects to branches with more splitters and combiners and at the end-points of this arbitrary topology various lengths of 1-Wire devices such temperature sensors or ID-button readers can be connected. As the backbone is based on standard RJ45 UTP cable technology expanding a network can easily be achieved.

    Modular 1-Wire unit interface cable

    The modular 1-Wire interface cable makes the physical bridge to the modular 1-Wire network. The modular network can easily be customized with the use of standard RJ-45 splitters and combiners to achieve the needed 1-Wire network. Multiple 1-Wire devices such as temperature sensors and ID-Button readers can be connected to one RTCU unit.

    The modular 1-Wire interface cables are available for the MX2i series and for the DX4/AX9 series. The modular 1-Wire interface are delivered with a RJ-45 connector for easy connection to a combiner if only a single 1-Wire device is connected. For multiple 1-Wire devices a splitter can be used. No external power supply is required as the 1-Wire devices derives power directly from the 1-Wire bus simplifying installation.

    Modular 1-Wire temperature sensor

    The modular 1-Wire temperature sensor are delivered with a RJ-45 connector for easy connection to the modular 1-Wire network via a combiner or splitter allowing easy installation in any application. The temperature sensor offers an accuracy of typical +/- 0.5ºC and ranges from –55ºC to +125ºC.

    The communication between the RTCU unit and the temperature sensor is done through the 1-Wire interface, requiring only a single wire and a ground to establish the data connection. No external power supply is needed as the temperature sensor derives power directly from the 1-wire bus simplifying application set-up. From the RTCU application temperatures are measured with a simple function similar to the known board temperature function. The temperature sensor has a unique factory-lasered 64-bit serial number allowing connection of multiple temperature sensors on the same 1-Wire bus.

    The Modular 1-Wire temperature sensor can be delivered in two length; 3 or 10 meters of cable with a RJ-45 for easy installation into the modular 1-Wire network. If another length is required the modular 1-Wire network is easy expandable with a combiner or splitter and standard UTP network cable.

    Modular 1-Wire ID-Button reader

    The modular 1-wire ID-Button reader features an easy to install and easy to use 1-Wire ID-Button reader with controllable LED indicator.  The modular 1-Wire ID-Button reader are delivered with a RJ-45 connector for easy connection to the modular 1-Wire network via a combiner or splitter allowing easy installation in any application. The ID-Button reader offers a way to uniquely identify persons or items equipped with ID-buttons.

    The communication between the RTCU unit and the ID-Button reader is done through the 1-Wire interface, requiring a single data wire, a ground to establish the data connection, an extra wire is dedicated for controlling the LED present in the ID-Button reader. No external power supply is needed as the ID-Button reader derives power directly from the 1-wire bus simplifying application set-up. From the RTCU application reading an ID-Button and controlling the LED indicator is easily done with function call. IDButtons with on-board non-volatile memory is also available for storing data directly in the ID-Button.

    iButton - ID Button for user identification with on-board memory

    This ID Button can be read and written to by an iButton reader connected to a suitable RTCU unit for easy and secure identification of a person/item identified with a unique ID button. The on-board non-volatile memory of 116 bytes of data opens up a broad range of new applications, where the user specific information can be stored directly into the iButton itself.
    Applications include access control, work-in-progress tracking, electronic travelers, storage of calibration constants and debit tokens.

    External Temperature sensor

    This 1-Wire based external temperature sensor can measure temperatures from -55 to 125 degrees Celsius with a precision of 0.5 degrees Celsius.
